How Fitness Bloggers Changed My Life
Oh say about, 4 years ago, I came across a really bright and fun and dynamic workout one day on Pinterest. I clicked the link unaware of where the internet was leading me. It took me to the owner’s website, and lo and behold it was a BLOG! The airy look of the site, and happy-go-lucky attitude of the author instantly got my attention. Plus the author lived in Florida! The soil from which I grew! It was a fun read, plus the workout was really simple and very effective. Soon, I started tuning in to the blog weekly, then daily for the awesome giveaways, information about fitness, and very do-able recipes. From this happenstance situation, the site linked me to other blogs, and other blogs, and OTHER blogs. Most of these bloggers had a core motivation of fun, food, and fitness and they were all inspiring, refreshing, and just plain cool! The more I tuned in, the more I learned. I learned about myself, my habits, fitness routines, career possibilities, and mostly the similarities we ALL had. It might seem dramatic to say fitness bloggers changed my life, but they have, and let me tell you how:
1. Portion Control
Seeing pictures of bloggers’ meals and their colorful, full-plates of vegetables, carbohydrates, and lean protein help me gauge my own meal amounts
2. Keeping Up with Working Out
I would lose my luster for working out, eat a couple cookies, and feel super guilty that I just “ruined” anything I worked hard for. Bloggers have exemplified that working out is a part of their lifestyle. They make sacrifices to workout and report of all the benefits they feel throughout the day. They are open to try new forms and fads of exercising and give a candid review of their experiences. It shows readers that trying new ways of invigorating your body is and can be fun! Plus, you never know who you might meet, a great friend or loved one might be at that next spin class with you.
3. Being Easy Going
Like Carrots N Cake’s Cookie Friday, or PB Fingers’ trip to Sanibel which caused a disrupt in her normal eating and exercise regime, the bloggers happily indulge and savor every bite and report back to us of their enjoyment, not their regret! When you can’t work out like normal, do what you can since an active lifestyle is just part of who you are and what you like. Get back to your old routine with a bang and eat yummy fruits and veggies to help you feel top-notch. How we get over our own little guilt trips is where the true health lies.
4. Having Friends Who Enjoy the Same Things You Do
The bloggers have met new people through exercise classes, and through the new people and their own ambition, have branched out and tried different activities with a positive attitude. They report back to us with their honest opinion, after giving it their best shot. They live active lifestyles and will run marathons and do other active things that help them stay happy, meet new friends, and even find a love they can also exercise with.
5. New Recipes
They EXPERIMENT! Trial and Error! And IT’S OKAY! Some recipes are successes! Some are duds. Some are super simple and delicious. Some teach you new culinary endeavors, and some are just old staples with some sparks of improvement.
6. Evolving
Seeing the daily updates and the changes fitness bloggers openly talk about shows how human we ALL are! They have shared their ever-growing families, personal struggles, births, deaths, birthdays and holidays. All of these memories are an open photo album they graciously share with readers and we see how they have grown. It’s sometimes refreshing to be able to relate to this aspect of all of our lives.
These 6 items really made an impact on me and I still follow these foundational bloggers daily if not weekly. It’s fun. It’s fresh. And it’s inspiring!
Have you been following any specific genre of bloggers? How have their blogs influenced you? Positively? Negatively?
What a sweet post! Thank you for linking to me — honored to hear I’ve inspired. 🙂
